Brooks: parkrun

Background

Brooks is one of the world’s great running shoe companies, and if you’re into running, you likely know Brooks well. 

Brooks recognises that all runners have some kind of purpose, whether it’s headspace, a feeling or a finish line. Brooks is the long-term sponsor of parkrun, which this year celebrated the 20th anniversary of its first run; to mark the occasion Brooks created the first-ever parkrun shoe, a twist on the much-loved Brooks Ghost 16.

We are Brooks UK’s comms agency, launching shoes and helping build the brand in the UK.

 

Objective – performance

Launch the Brooks x parkrun shoe and drives sales of the same.

 

Activity

Working as part of a fully-integated comms team, alongside friends from parkrun, we ran a small launch event and managed all media relations around the shoe, ensuring it got to as many media and influencers as possible.

The very clear focus here was not on specialist sport media, but on more general lifestyle media as befits parkrun.

 

Results

Off the charts levels of coverage including: Evening Standard, Good Housekeeping, Metro (twice), The Independent (three times), Top Sante, T3, Adventure magazine, Yahoo Women’s Health and dozens of regional media.
