HARLEY BIKERS HELP GUIDE DOG PUPS​

It’s not hard to understand why we love working with Guide Dogs so much!​

New research shows that over half of UK dog owners say their dogs get stressed around motorbikes (57%), mainly due to engine noise, speed, and face coverings; others report their dogs are unsettled by helmets worn by riders, delivery drivers, and cyclists.​
​
For guide dogs working alongside people with visual impairments, an unexpected fright from a passing bike can be dangerous. That’s why early, gentle exposure to motorbikes is an essential part of a guide dog puppy’s socialisation.​
​
Motorbikers can therefore play a vital role as volunteer Puppy Raisers, helping puppies get used to bikes safely at home – supported by a Guide Dogs Puppy Development Advisor. ​

This week, members of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) met 10 week old golden retriever Kian to help him grow more confident around motorbikes 🏍️ . ​
